The Spectrum of Feelings

Feeling too much or too little or okay?

Imagine a room where three individuals are present.

Individual 1 is crocheting a muffler and believes that sonder (the feeling that everyone is going through something or other) prevails. She does not know how to communicate. Hence, she has resorted to the art of crochet.

Individual 2 is making fun (in her mind) of Individual 1 on why she has picked up something of the past as now is the age of AI, machines, and whatnot. This is something which is done by elderly.

Individual 3 is admiring the art as she hails from the place where passing the same skill or ability to the next generation is considered precious.

The loop of overthinking has been broken by Individual 1 in her mind by giving it a beautiful shape while crocheting. The problem is not a problem until one perceives it. She has faced it now. As when it comes to Individual 2, she is someone who wants to make the environment light-hearted for those around her. Lastly, Individual 3 is associating a timeless value to things to stay afloat in the ocean of dead so-called trends.

Even when you read this, you are associating some feelings towards these three individuals I have told you to imagine. Collectively, as humans we cannot judge anyone but still we do judge everyone and later we regret in silence.

We cannot know whether someone is feeling too much or too little until they are willing to express it in some way which requires understanding. As for the okay part. I do not believe that there is a state of continuous neutrality because being strictly neutral is like being nothing. On the other hand, extremes can cause catastrophe. We better know where our mind is on the spectrum of feelings than anyone else. If it is not the case, then it is an alarm to start looking within rather than in someone else’s compliment or criticism.
